Wet N’ Wild MegaLast Lip Color

This is basically our Magnum Opus of lipstick—it’s the one thing we absolutely MUST put on when we’ve got a cocktail party or black tie event. This 4-hour, longwearing lip color leaves a semi-matte cream finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn’t cake, feather, or bleed. Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts coenzyme Q10 and vitamins A & E help smooth lips. I have 3 of these lip colors: Don’t Blink Pink, Think Pink, and Pinkerbell. I absolutely LOVE these colors. Most of them are a pretty pink and I get looks for having such a vibrant color on (I don’t care, girl has to have fun!) I love red lipsticks but even the red had a pink tone to it. This is definitely geared towards pink lipstick wearers. I am a sucker for lipsticks in general but hate ones that require too much maintenance. If I have to constantly check my teeth or reapply, it is not for me. The lipstick lasts throughout the day with minimal touching up. The price is pretty good too: ranging from 2 – 5 dollars. The finish is matte but it doesn’t feel like a matte. It feels more like a balm.

wetnwildlipstick

The downside, after a few hours, it does dry out your lips. It doesn’t become too cakey on your lips but you can totally tell your lips need a good dose of a deep mask. I recommend only wearing this if your lips are not already dry. If you suffer from chapped lips like I do during the winter months, you want to make sure you do not wear it on a chapped day. You’ll spend the next day peeling your lips.

My biggest gripe out of everything is that the caps come off really easily. Do not leave this floating around in your purse or bag. The cap will come off and get on EVERYTHING. I do have to dock this a point because of this.

All in all, I love these and would probably repurchase if I came across them again. I would love to see them extend their color choices because they have a decent formula with great color payoff. For the price, you cannot go wrong. Just remember the chapstick!!

Arrival! Kylie Jenner Metal Matte in Reign First Impressions

Eeeeee I have been patiently waiting for the mail each day, hoping that this baby would arrive! After 2 weeks it finally came. The box it the typical black and white drip look. I have to say again, say what you want about Kylie but she sure knows how to make her stuff look sick. The box was quite big for my one order but was cushioned around some foam wrapping to prevent it from getting banged up.

The smell of the product smells a bit like a chocolate or buttercream but it’s not overwhelming like some of the products I’ve tried. The color is a coppery red. When applied, the color looks a bit more brown than red but I’m sure under fluorescent lights or outside, the red shines through. When I tested this out, it went on easily. I didn’t use primer or balm underneath. The product isn’t completely drying like some matte products out there. You definitely have to be careful as it doesn’t dry right away and even after 30 minutes, it sort of sits on your lips. Products that feel that way usually set into your lips and also work better with the right application underneath. You don’t need much of this to have a nice color or later. I’m mad I didn’t order the other two!! I definitely will be looking for the restock. This product seems to be worth the money.

ColourPop Haul Reviews and pictures! (Finally)

Here is my review for the ColourPop haul I did a while back. It sure took me forever to sit down and actually wear these all! I thought I was going to pick a color a day and have the review in a week and a half but boy, was I wrong! I never realized how much I worry about my lipstick going with my outfit! Here are most of the colors I bought. I will probably review the rest eventually. I found the ones that I really like so I will need to get sick of those first 😛 If you have tried any of these or other colors, please let me know!!

Lumiere 2- This has to be my favorite one out of the bunch. This is a true matte formula. When you first apply it, you have to make sure you keep your mouth open for a minute or so so that the corners of your mouth can dry. This came off a tiny bit when I would drink something but it rarely deteriorated the actual product on my lips. The color is darker than what the tube looks like. For as long lasting as the formula is..it comes off with a wet rag which is a total plus! When I tested this out the first time, I only moisturized but didn’t prime. I definitely recommend priming as well because it avoids those nasty cracks. You do have to be wary after eating a big meal as the inner lining of your lips fades. A touch up should do.

Lumiere 2 Ultra Matte Lip

Shimmy – I didn’t care for this one. The color was nice but my face is super pale and it just washed me out. Maybe I’m just used to vibrant colors. I didn’t prime but did moisturize. As with the others, this wiped off after scrubbing but left a tint to my lips. It looked and felt very cakey on my lips. This is the matte of nightmares, where it feels like it is sucking whatever moisture is left off of your lips. Even when I did prime and moisturize, the product filled into the cracks of my lips right away. I wouldn’t purchase this again.

Last Call is a créme. It looks and feels a bit like a gloss when it’s on. The color is faint but just enough with my casual outfit. The smell is a bit gross. I used the primer underneath and my nose keeps getting wafts of pure vanilla frosting. The Last Call is just an off vanilla smell. I don’t care for it and is something I don’t think I want to smell everyday.  It’s like a vanilla protein shake. I don’t think I will purchase this again.

Last Call Creme Lippie Stix

Plastics is a matte purple/wine color. I love the color! The downside, it’s a bit on the moveable side. It doesn’t easily stay on your lips. I also found that it took forever to get a consistent color throughout my lips because it kept moving as I was applying. Halfway through my meal, you could completely tell it was coming off. While the lasting power sucked, I still am going to continue to use this and might even consider purchasing until I find a replacement color.

Jingle is a Matte. I really didn’t care for it in the first hour I wore it. When it goes on, it looks and feels more like a cream lipstick. The color is a bright red and when applying, you have to go over your lips a few times as the product moves and doesn’t always cover everything. Everything you eat or drink will receive red on it. After an hour, it started sticking to my lips like a matte usually does. Once the product finally set, it was a joy to walk around with it. I didn’t have to worry about running my tongue on my teeth to get any access red. I find I like this red more than some of the others that I have tried and will eventually review. I do recommend this. It lasted most of the day with only minimal touching up after lunch. I would purchase again.

Some honorable mentions. They didn’t leave much impression but I would not purchase for the lastablilty of both.

Which ones are your favorite? What other ColourPop products do you like?

Kylie Jenner Metal Matte Lipstick

So I have a confession. Even with the knowledge that there are dupes out there, I’ve wanted the Kylie Jenner products for awhile. I’ve pined from a far because I couldn’t part with the 20-30 plus dollars for one item. I know that they are overpriced but I need it. That girl for sure has a great marketing team because even as an Advertising major, I’m being suckered into her limited “restocks”, flashy photos and promotions.

With that being said, I just scored Reign, the Ruddy copper Metallic lipstick!!! This is cheaper than the actual lipkit and sold fast as expected. You really have to spend your day waiting on these babies to go on sale and have a caffeine burst while purchasing or you won’t be fast enough. The tip? Follow Kylielipkitukdates on Instagram or pay to have her app. They will post the day of or a day or two before.

I can’t wait to review this for you! Also, the long awaiting ColourPop reviews will be posted this weekend. Finally made it through some of the products and took pictures of each. Stay tuned!

Happy Friday Y’all!

Maybelline’s Vivid Matte Liquid in Pink Charge

I’ve been on a Matte kick lately. I was scoping the paper a few weeks ago and found a few really good coupons for makeup, specifically a 3 dollar Maybelline coupon. I decided to do what any makeup addict would do and bought a bunch of makeup I really didn’t need. Maybelline’s Vivid Matte Liquid in Pink Charge was one of those items.

First impression-this product looks like it could be the same consistency of ColourPop or Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit. It’s in a cute little container with a vibrant color. The color looks to be a pale pink. When opened, it’s actually a hot pink. It’s much brighter than I thought but I’m not against it. The lip product went on like a gloss and had the same consistency. I figured within a minute or two it would dry…it didn’t.

 Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid
The product looked like it dried but within 10 minutes, I had destroyed the inner lining of my lips. As I ate my morning yogurt and cheese stick, I felt the product continue to come off. Now as I’m writing the review, I should’ve taken “matte liquid” more seriously. I know it never stated to be long wearing but it didn’t even last a half hour. This product will not be my go to lip product but may maintain in my makeup case for a moisture top coat for my other lipsticks that are on the dry side. I have a hot pink matte lipstick from Wet n Wild that I might pair it with.

Final Review 4/10

I can repurpose it as more of a gloss instead of matte.

Mary Kay Creme Eye Color in Iced Cocoa

Mary Kay Eye ColorFirst Impression: I thought because this was a creme base, it would not last long. The tube is the same of most of its kind. The consistency is light and glides on easy.

I was hesitant about this product because it went on so easy. I gave this one a try. I put on primer (Bare Minerals), layered on some of the creme shadow and then put some darker eyeshadow (Naked 2 palette) with it to make a smoked out eye. I also put a matching color on top of the creme shadow to set it. Let me tell you, this stuff lasts! I didn’t have a problem with it coming off. It definitely is a darker color for my skin so I only wear it when I go out with the girls. It was easy to blend and acted as a powder shadow. It came off easy with a makeup removing wipe as well.

The downside is if you touched it throughout the night, it would smear but that is more of a conscious thing I have to watch out for. Without a primer and shadow, the color does fade faster but with the right precautions, it would be fine. I would recommend not putting your liquid foundation underneath this, especially ones that aren’t matte. The consistency will make your makeup run.

The price for these are roughly 14 dollars which is more than drug store kinds but I would say comparable with higher end. The downside of course is that you have to go through a Mary Kay consultant. The website claims 10 hour lasting power and that it can be used alone or as a primer. It also says it is Ophthalmologist-tested and suitable for contact lens wearers. My biggest issue with eye makeup is the makeup smearing on my contacts. I actually think this is comparable to the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow.

Overall, I didn’t have an issue with this other than light smudging and the darker color for my skin. The price is something that I can live with as it seems to last. I’ve used this 5-6 times already and have barely made a dent in it.

I am beyond excited! All of my ColourPop purchases came in! After my initial purchase, I bought 3 more items to get the special free item for their 2 Million special. This is going to be interesting because usually I am a red kind of girl but I bought a lot of vibrant pinks.

Stay tuned! I’m going to be wearing them throughout the week so I can mash a few reviews together and test their longevity.

Makeup Haul!

I have to GUSH over the fact that I just splurged on some ColourPop items. I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen a review on their products and can’t recall even one bad review. Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy+Shine Liquid Foundation in Normal to Dry – 110 Porcelain

Maybelline Fit Me FoundationFirst Impression: To apply the product, I put a bit on the top of my left hand and use a brush to apply. It can get a bit messy but I do this with a lot of my foundation. I did half of my face and it didn’t look cakey. It didn’t look too dewy either but it may be the brush that I am using (stipple brush from Elf Cosmetics). The foundation blended in nicely and didn’t feel heavy. It hid the red marks on my face that didn’t have concealer on them.

The foundation didn’t look dewy until I had some natural light on my face. What I was worried about was that my nose gets dried on the tip and sometimes it looks like it is peeling when foundation is added. This looks like if I forget to moisturize – it might cake up. I’m not sure how I feel about the dewy look. I used to like it but i think I’m so used to matte now. It’s a fine line between dewy and greasy looking. In a way, the more I looked at the foundation, the more I didn’t like how shiny my face looked. I added a bit of loose powder on top and it seemed to set better and wasn’t as shiny.

When I touched my face two minutes after application and before I put the loose powder on, it felt a bit sticky. The way your face feels after a workout.

Beginning of The Day vs. End of Night

Long Term: The positive is that my boyfriend complimented the makeup saying that i had a “glow going on” and throughout the day I didn’t feel the makeup. The makeup was also easy to apply (just put a touch on the top of my hand with the Elf brush) and hide much of the redness on my face. The downsides, within two hours, I saw creases by my laugh lines and eyelids. By the end of the night (roughly 8 hours or wear), you could also see the redness of my T-zone and the lovely pimple that hasn’t broken through yet. My undereyes look like I need to add more time to my sleep schedule. I see that in some of the spots, my makeup held strong. I can feel some of it when I rub my hands on my face. I didn’t have a busy day, just lunch and then spent the afternoon with two new puppies. I think with a primer and a small touch up, I could’ve extended the wear.

All in all, the shade matched (better than the powder that i realized was too dark for my face right now!) I’m satisfied with the wear as this could be a great foundation to wear to work. The only major downside is the creasing. At the end of the night, I had greasy looking eyelids. I’m assuming this would be corrected if I primed and wore eyeshadow. The texture is thicker than a BB cream but applied, that is what it feels like. Seems to have the lasting power of one as well. This is not recommended for anyone that has any hint of oil on their skin.

Would I buy this again? I would say possibly. I think I could learn to work with it. It’s one of the better foundations I’ve tried but I’m still on the look out for one that matches to my skin perfectly and doesn’t need to be touched up!

Pre Makeup Products – Ultra Hydrating Beauty Lotion on face and Tucker Ashley Advanced Peptide Eye Complex. Let dry.

Final Picture Makeup Not Mentioned – Elf Cosmetics Undereye Concealer in Ivory, Mr. Write (Now) eyeliner pencil in Jac and City Color Flawless natural loose powder in Buff.
